Joseph Paul Wilson and Jamir Omar Crosby, both 19 and of Compton, were arrested early Tuesday, according to Kim Mohr of the Irvine Police Department.
Crosby posted bail and was released from jail Wednesday. He is scheduled to be arraigned July 20. Wilson, being held on $30,000 bail, was due in court again next Thursday for a pretrial hearing.
Wilson pleaded not guilty Wednesday to one felony count of burglary as well as three counts of commercial burglary and a count of possession of burglary tools, all misdemeanors.
Crosby is charged with a felony count of burglary as well as one misdemeanor count each of possession of more than an ounce of marijuana and possession of burglary tools. He also faces an infraction for an illegal license plate covering.
Police responded to a burglary alarm about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday at Honey Berry, 14775 Jeffrey Road. When they arrived, the glass door entrance was smashed but no suspects were there, Mohr said.
A short time later, police on patrol at a nearby shopping center at Irvine Center Drive and Sand Canyon spotted a suspicious vehicle and stopped the car, Mohr said.
One of the men in the car was attempting to hide in the back seat and the other man had broken glass on his clothes and a cut hand, Mohr said. Police found a crowbar on them and one of the suspects allegedly admitted breaking into the Honey Berry store as well as a Togos restaurant and L&L Barbecue in the Heritage Plaza shopping center at 14400 Culver Drive, Mohr said.
The dates of the alleged burglaries are May 30, June 20 and June 15, according to court records.
